My Story
Dr. Timothy S. Trader,
N.D.(retired), Ph.D., D.D.
My story began before I
was out of the womb. I was subjected to a unique
form of medical harassment during my mother's
pregnancy. The doctors told her that she was not to
gain more than twenty pounds during this time. They
put her on a high protein diet, akin to the
"Slim-Fast" program. Those of you in the know about
pre-natal care are probably aware that twenty
pounds gained during pregnancy is a little light. I
popped out weighing more than nine pounds, not
including the placenta (commonly referred to as the
afterbirth). I looked like a novelty rubber chicken
without feathers and very thin. Today I often
wonder if my mother actually lost weight instead of
maintaining necessary reserves for a proper
pregnancy. Through the persuasion of her doctors
she was informed that if she gained more than
anticipated they would not assist in delivery.
