The town has a resident population of about 200 folks - most of whom are happy to service the tourist and provide maintenance and crafts. There are at least 3 travel agencies, with tours to any part of the country. You are less than an hour away from the airport - which is accessible by cab or bus.

There are many permanent residents from America and Europe. One of the best natural food restaurants in the world is located in Montezuma. The owners, Lenny and Patricia, also have a movie house, as well as cement dome rental units and a hotel. They have created a full recording studio to capture local talent, as well as the sounds of nature.

There are two strong environmental groups and they are responsible for the cleanliness of the beaches and town.

Montezuma is world famous and has an international flair. As a matter of fact, Tico Times recently did a cover story on Montezuma (2/27/98). It is rich in service-oriented businesses: restaurants, hotels, entertainment (horse rentals, bars, boat rides, fishing, excursions...). The town has a basketball court, tennis and soccer fields, as well as festivals with local talent.

There are about a dozen waterfalls in the town area with over 15 feet high, one of the 40 footers drops directly into the ocean. Three of them are located adjacent to my property. Nearby, there are about 6 miles of un-crowded, clean, sandy beaches to walk and swim.

Besides the many hotels, the beach area is often populated by all the tents that pop up around the time of the USA's winter (which is summertime in Costa Rica). It is usually a dry season during the months of late Nov. to April, with clear blue skies and temperatures of 80- 90 deg. F.

Transportation from San Jose can be via public bus and boat which takes about 6 hours and costs less than $10. A private plane with a taxi is available, and can get you to town in less than 1 hour. Also, there are many daily flights (at about $50 one way) from San Jose to aneighboring town.

Most of the roads to Montezuma from San Jose are black tar. The town has electricity, telephone, fax and e-mail services.
