With the help of many local vegetarian societies, we've selected nearly 100 natural food co-ops around the US and placed them in our FREE City & State Guides.

"Food for people, not for profit " is the underlying theme behind the creation of food coops. This idealistic vision has resulted in the following innovations, distinguishing the co-op from the conventional supermarket or natural foods store: Every member is a part owner. Group buying eliminates the middleman and can translate into sizeable food cost reductions. In addition, co-ops can help give one a sense of participation and self-reliance, and often provide auxiliary services such as child day care, transportation for the elderly, and truly democratic co-op meetings.

Some of the most successful co-ops include California's Palo Alto Food Co-op (over 25,000 members!) , the Puget Co-op (Seattle, WA), & Cass Corridor (Michigan).

So become part of the wave of the future and take the initiative to either join your local food coop---or if none exist---start a local buying club in your home town.

Important Note: We are constantly up-dating the listings in each of our City & State Guides. Please contact Peter (peter@vegetarianusa.com) if you find listings that are out-of-date. We would appreciate receiving the correct address, tel # & website.
