The Live
Food Lifestyle consists of eating a diet which
features un-cooked vegetables & fruits,
supplemented with raw nuts & seed and sprouted
grains (ie. wheatberries,...). By exploring our
Favorite
Links, and Kitchen
Links you'll be able to
receive expert advice on how to begin this dietary
adventure!
Many
experienced live fooders offset the physical and
psychic pollution in and near the cities by using
chlorophyll-rich drinks; air and water purification
systems; meditation to help cope with the increase
of body/mind/spirit sensitivity to one's
surroundings; and hatha yoga, to increase oxygen
absorption and control over bodily
functions.
For
those interested in experimenting with this type of
diet, we recommend joining a live food bulletin
board, picking up a couple of recipe
books
(see books & videos), visiting a living-food
educational center, such as Hippocrates
Health Institute in
West Palm Beach, (FL), the Ann
Wigmore Institute in
Puerto Rico, the Ann
Wigmore Foundation
(NM) or the Optimum
Health Institute
just outside San Diego. Joining or forming a local
support group to share experiences and pool
resources (a garden, books, etc.) can also be very
beneficial.
Although the benefits to one's
physical health and spiritual life can be
tremendous (ie. live-fooders have reported
everything from the improvement skin & eye tone
to miraculous healings from degenerative diseases,
including colon cancer) most experts highly suggest
that you begin slowly. First, trying a one to
three-week program, then increasing the length of
time depending on what you, as an individual feel
comfortable with.
You
will feel in good company, as the ancient
Essenes (a spiritual sect living in the
Middle East at the time of Christ, and the authors
of the Dead Sea Scrolls) ate a mostly raw food diet
which included some raw dairy products (clabbered
milk) combined with regular fasting and daily
meditations, to attain higher levels of spiritual
awakening.
Be
sure to attend one of the exciting live food events
such as Raw
World!
